Universal reconceives the follow-up to focus on Chris Hemsworth’s character as writer David Koepp exits.

Universal has decided to shelf its planned Snow White and the Huntsman sequel and is instead focusing on a solo Huntsman movie starring Chris Hemsworth. Kristen Stewart will not be invited to return if the follow-up goes forward.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the sequel to June’s Snow White, which starred Stewart, Hemsworth and Charlize Theron, is being reconceived as a spinoff movie. It’s unclear whether directorRupert Sanders will return, though one source with ties to the production says he will. However, screenwriter David Koepp, who had been hired to pen the continuation of the original film, is being settled out of his rich contract, according to sources, as the project is being transformed into something other than the movie that Koepp had been hired to write. 

“The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise,” a Universal spokeswoman says.

The move comes in the wake of Stewart, 22, and the married Sanders, 41, apologizing publicly for a romantic affair after compromising photos of the duo were published in July. (Stewart was dating her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.) In Touch can exclusively reveal that after weeks of ignoring Kristen Stewart’s frantic texts and phone calls, Robert Pattinson has finally broken the silence. “He’s been drunk dialing Kristen,” a pal reveals exclusively to In Touch, on newsstands now.

As Rob has been struggling to deal with the shocking betrayal, friends tells In Touch “he’s been drinking like crazy” to numb his pain. And the alcohol has been inspiring Rob to do something that has his friends alarmed.

“Rob had been avoiding her calls, but now they’re talking … well, they’re barely talking,” the insider reveals.

Though Kristen has reportedly been in tears and telling friends she’s desperate to get Rob back, she’s been unable to come up with the words to win her ex’s forgiveness. “There’s a lot of dead silence on the phone,” the disgusted pal reveals, “because there’s not a lot to talk about.”

“His friends are working hard to make sure that he doesn’t go back to her,” another source close to Rob admits.

Kristen Stewart has pulled out of the London premiere of her new movie On The Roadbecause she is too embarrassed to appear in public in the wake of her cheating scandal,RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The 22-year-old actress was originally planning to walk the red carpet for the film version of Jack Kerouac’s classic novel on August 16 – but with her Brit co-star Tom Sturridge, a close pal of Robert Pattinson, already scheduled to appear she wanted to avoid the awkwardness her appearance would bring.

Kristen, an avid Kerouac fan, also doesn’t want her attendance distracting from the film itself, which she is very proud of working on.

It certainly hasn’t been the easiest time for Kristen Stewart.

But when EW sat down with Stewart — along with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 co-stars Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson — at San Diego’s Comic-Con just a few weeks ago, the mood was very different. The actors’ four-year journey was approaching an end, and they were feeling reflective about the many ways the franchise has changed them. Stewart spoke about her ongoing struggle to carve out a public life that feels authentic. “I’ve never been able to fully form this thing, this persona, that some people are so f—ing good at. That’s an art. I know a lot of actors [who can do that] and you guys aren’t them,” she said, gesturing to Lautner and Pattinson.

“Did you just point to us?” Pattinson asked.

“Yeah, and thank God! I don’t like people like that,” Stewart said. “People who are a complete non-person but somehow through the lens seem like they are on and interesting and engaged. I care way more about the people standing in the room. I don’t want anyone leaving and saying, ‘God, that girl is so fake.’ People tell me to make it easier on myself and to play a character when I go out on carpets and stuff. But you know what? I’d rather be me.”
